White Post, Virginia
White Post gets it's name from a post, you guessed it -- painted white, placed at this location by Lord Fairfax. It informed travelers the direction of Greenway Court and the distance to the seat of the colonial royalty. Greenway Court is approximately 1.2 miles south of White Post on VA Route 658.
In 1913 the second of two tanks was installed to supply the steam locomotives with much needed water. The old station on the north side of VA Route 628 was dismantled in the 1950’s and a smaller one erected on the south side of VA Route 628. |
