Due to its similar name, travelers have sometimes confused this city with the state's capitol -- Charleston, West Virginia.

A new brick station was built in 1914.  Located South of the old building on Kimball Avenue, this facility supports both freight and passenger service.

The old station was moved to the opposite side of the tracks.  It served as a store house and remains today.  The combination passenger and freight railroad depots built in by the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad and Norfolk & Western Railway here still stand in Charles Town, West Virginia.  It is currently being used by a feed dealer.  An older combination station is restored and now a private residence.  N&W passenger service to Charles Town ended in 1963.
